Wyoming’s ranchers and farmers are the backbone of our state and our way of life. They feed our communities, protect our land, and embody the independence and work ethic that define Wyoming. But for too long, Washington bureaucrats have made their lives harder — strangling them with regulations, threatening their water rights, and locking up the public lands they rely on for grazing.
Steve will be a strong advocate for Wyoming agriculture in Congress. He will fight to protect Wyoming’s water rights under the prior appropriation doctrine, permanently repeal the radical Waters of the United States (WOTUS) rule that threatened to give the federal government jurisdiction over every mud puddle on a rancher’s property, and ensure that federal land management policies respect the needs of the men and women who actually work the land.
The death tax destroys Wyoming family farms and ranches, forcing families to sell land that has been in their family for generations just to pay the IRS. Steve supports raising the exemption and eventually getting rid of the death tax altogether. He will also fight to protect Wyoming ranchers’ grazing permits, roll back EPA overreach, and make sure that agriculture policy is decided by the people who know the land — not bureaucrats in Washington who have never set foot on a Wyoming ranch.
Finally, Steve will work to ensure farmers and ranchers have stability in the farm bill and will prioritize relief for those struggling as President Trump works to rebalance global trade and negotiate better deals for the United States.
