Education

Parents should control education, not Washington bureaucrats, teachers’ unions, or unelected administrators pushing political agendas on Wyoming’s kids. The average Department of Education bureaucrat in DC makes nearly $150,000 per year and the average teacher in Wyoming makes $64,000. That’s wrong. We need to pay our teachers more, and recruit the best and the brightest into the field. Local schools are the center of our local communities and we need more local control. Steve supports drastically reducing the Department of Education and returning that funding and authority to Wyoming’s parents, teachers, and local school boards.

History and Patriotism

Steve believes our schools should teach children to love and understand our country, our founding, the Constitution, and the sacrifices that generations of Americans have made to preserve our freedom and pursue a more perfect union that lives up to our founding principles. No critical race theory, radical gender ideology, or socialist and Marxist political indoctrination should be allowed in Wyoming’s schools. We should teach kids how to think, not what to think. The real, inspiring story of American history—the greatest nation on earth—should be at the center of every child’s education.

Parental Choice and Homeschooling

Steve is a strong supporter of school choice. Every Wyoming child deserves access to a quality education, regardless of their zip code or family income. Parents should have the power to choose the school that best fits their child’s needs — public, private, charter, or homeschool. Steve supports education savings accounts and voucher programs that empower parents, and he will fight to protect the rights of homeschooling families across Wyoming.

Financial Literacy

Too many young Americans enter adulthood without a basic understanding of how money works — budgeting, saving, investing, and avoiding debt traps. Steve believes financial literacy should be a core part of education so Wyoming’s next generation is prepared to build wealth, steer clear of predatory credit practices, and reach the financial independence that defines the American Dream.

Career and Technical Education

We’ve told an entire generation of kids that the only way to succeed is by getting a four-year degree. That’s wrong and costly. We need to restore the value and dignity of skilled trades, community colleges, and apprenticeship programs. Steve will fight to increase funding for career and technical education and help Wyoming workers access good-paying jobs in the trades, which will create the millionaires of the future. Not every kid needs a college degree but every kid deserves a path to a fulfilling career.
