Wyoming’s mining industry, including coal, trona, uranium, and rare earth minerals, is vital to our state’s economy and America’s national security. For too long, the radical environmental left and their allies in Washington have tried to shut down Wyoming’s mines, destroy our coal communities, and make us dependent on hostile foreign nations like China for the minerals our economy and military rely on.
Steve will fight to defend Wyoming’s mining industry and the thousands of families relying on it. He will continue efforts initiated by Rep. Harriet Hageman with H.R. 7872, which would provide greater certainty for mining investments in Wyoming. He supports restructuring the federal government to reestablish a Bureau of Mines focused on boosting mining across the United States and locating its headquarters right here in Wyoming. He will oppose any federal regulation aimed at shutting down coal and will ensure that energy market transitions are driven by free-market forces, not federal mandates that upend Wyoming’s way of life.
