The Washington swamp is where bureaucrats, politicians, and lobbyists thrive at our expense, and it is the root of most of America’s problems. Five of the 15 wealthiest counties in America surround Washington, DC. Waste, fraud, and abuse are widespread throughout the government. Vice President Vance is leading the crackdown on fraud in healthcare and safety net programs from over-billing by Big Insurance and Big Healthcare to outright fraud schemes like we’ve seen in Minneapolis. They are literally stealing from the American people and future generations. President Trump and Elon Musk deserve huge credit for tackling this through DOGE, identifying savings of over $900 per taxpayer and totaling more than $150 billion. However, there is still much more to be done.
Steve advocates for zero-based budgeting in Washington, meaning each agency must justify every dollar every year. No more automatic budget increases. He supports a Balanced Budget Amendment requiring a supermajority to raise taxes, and promotes returning to regular order — where Congress passes 12 appropriations bills instead of rushing through trillion-dollar packages that members can’t fully review. If Congress fails to pass a budget, its members should not receive pay.
Steve will fight to eliminate duplicate programs, defund liberal NGOs and propaganda outlets like NPR, cut federal bureaucracy, and prioritize federal spending on infrastructure, Social Security, Medicare, and rebuilding our military. He would eliminate or dramatically scale back the Department of Education, USAID, and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. States and local communities make better decisions than Washington bureaucrats.
